Bytefest
Bytefest is the flagship event of Ctrl Alt Dal (CTRLALTDAL) — an annual LAN party held in Mellerud, Sweden, that brings together 200–300 participants for a multi-day celebration of gaming, community, and connection. Organized entirely by dedicated volunteers with professional ambition, Bytefest is one of the region's most community-driven gaming events.
What Makes Bytefest Special
Bytefest is more than just a LAN party — it is a community event designed from the ground up to be welcoming, safe, and inclusive. Every aspect of the event, from the tournament brackets to the social areas, is carefully planned to ensure that every participant has a great experience, regardless of their skill level or background.
The event features competitive tournaments across multiple game titles, social gaming areas where participants can try new games and meet new people, hands-on workshops covering technology and digital skills, and dedicated social spaces for relaxation and community interaction. Whether you come to compete, learn, or simply hang out with fellow gamers, Bytefest has something for you.
Safety and inclusivity are top priorities. Bytefest operates under clear community guidelines with on-site staff and a zero-tolerance policy for harassment. We want every participant to feel safe, respected, and welcome — and we take active steps to make that happen. The event is organized entirely by volunteers from Ctrl Alt Dal who bring both passion and professional ambition to every detail, ensuring a high-quality experience that the community can be proud of.
Tournaments & Competitions
Competitive brackets across multiple game titles, from team-based strategy games to head-to-head classics. Prizes, glory, and bragging rights on the line — with brackets designed for all skill levels, so both newcomers and seasoned competitors can participate and enjoy the thrill of competition.
Social Gaming Areas
Not every session needs to be competitive. Drop into games with new friends, explore co-op titles, or join casual lobbies throughout the event. Our social gaming areas are designed to be welcoming and relaxed, making it easy to try something new or just hang out and play with others.
Community & Social Spaces
Panel discussions, tech talks, giveaways, and community challenges make Bytefest more than just a gaming event — it is a festival. Dedicated social areas provide space for relaxation, conversation, and community building between gaming sessions.
BYOC Setup
Bring Your Own Computer. Every seat comes with dedicated desk space, power outlets, and high-speed LAN infrastructure. The venue is fully equipped for a seamless gaming experience, and some setups may be available for participants who don't have their own gear.
Workshops & Learning
Hands-on workshops and learning sessions covering PC building, networking, game development, and more. Bytefest is not just about playing games — it is also about learning new skills, sharing knowledge, and growing as a community.
Safe & Inclusive Environment
Clear community guidelines, on-site staff, and a zero-tolerance policy for harassment. Everyone is welcome at Bytefest. We take active steps to ensure that every participant feels safe, respected, and included throughout the entire event.
