From community gaming meetups to large-scale LAN events — there is always something happening in the Ctrl Alt Dal community. Here is an overview of our ongoing activities and upcoming projects.
Recurring Events
These are the core event formats that we organize throughout the year. Each one is designed to bring people together, build community, and celebrate gaming culture.
Game Nights
RegularCasual gaming sessions where members and newcomers gather to play together, socialize, and relax. Multiplayer titles, retro games, board games with a digital twist — all are welcome. These nights are the heartbeat of our community and a great way to meet new people in a relaxed setting.
LAN Events
At least once per yearBring your own PC setup and game alongside hundreds of others. Our LAN events combine competitive play with a festival atmosphere. Bytefest is our flagship annual event, drawing 200–300 participants to Mellerud for a multi-day celebration of gaming, community, and connection.
Community Meetups
Throughout the yearInformal gatherings to connect members, discuss upcoming events, plan new initiatives, and simply enjoy each other's company. Not everything needs to be a competition — sometimes the best moments happen when we just come together and share our passion for gaming and digital culture.

Nördcafé in Åmål
March 19Nördcafé is a social event focused on gaming, discussion, and community interaction, held in Åmål. Participants gather to play games, talk about gaming culture, and connect with like-minded people in a welcoming café-style setting. This initiative brings the gaming community together in a relaxed and inclusive environment, making it easy for newcomers to join in and feel at home.
Kanalyran
July 4–5Ctrl Alt Dal participates in Kanalyran with a dedicated gaming presence. The setup includes retro games, competitions, and hands-on community engagement activities. This is a fantastic opportunity to introduce gaming culture to a wider audience, connect with the local community, and show what Ctrl Alt Dal is all about. Visitors of all ages can try out different games, compete in mini-tournaments, and learn more about our association.
Gaming in the Cinema
Ongoing initiativeGaming in the Cinema is a unique local initiative where participants play split-screen games on a large cinema screen using multiple consoles. The experience of playing on a massive screen in a cinema setting is unlike anything else — it turns casual gaming into a spectacular shared experience. This activity is especially popular with younger participants and families, creating memorable moments around classic and modern multiplayer games.
Youth Center Visits
Ongoing throughout the yearCtrl Alt Dal regularly visits local youth centers across the Dalsland area to engage young people in gaming and digital culture. These visits are about more than just playing games — they are about building relationships, encouraging creativity, and introducing organized gaming culture to young people who might not otherwise have access. Our volunteers bring equipment, set up gaming stations, and create a positive, social atmosphere where young people can connect and learn.
TrollCon
Annual participationCtrl Alt Dal participates in TrollCon with a gaming booth and interactive activities. Our presence at TrollCon allows us to reach new audiences, showcase our community, and give attendees a hands-on experience of what organized gaming culture looks like. From casual gaming stations to mini-competitions, our TrollCon booth is always a popular destination for visitors who share our passion for games and digital culture.
Workshops & Education
Beyond competitive play and social gaming, we are committed to skill-building and education. Our workshops are open to all skill levels and cover topics that bridge gaming with real-world technical skills. We encourage knowledge sharing between generations and strive to make technology accessible and exciting for everyone, especially young people who are just beginning to explore the digital world.
